Designed by a Chinese design team and co-created by PLAIN HOMELAND, the villa project called 'Erya Villa' has won 3 international design awards. It has won Japan IDPA 2023, British SBID International Design Award 2023 and Dezeen Award 2023. Located in Guangdong, China, the award-winning Erya Villa is a renovation villa project. At Erya Villa, they make their homeowners feel comfortable, calm and relaxed. This is because they focus on the most important things: daylight, ventilation and air quality.
Without altering the fundamental structure, how to create a home for an elite family to promote interaction yet ensure privacy? Erya Villa may provide you the answer. Despite its great location in Guangdong, this 20-year-old villa was not being fully used. Its interior layout was not very efficient and it did not get much natural light or fresh air.
To create a nice, simple and relaxing living space, this building was completely renovated both inside and out. The formerly conservative architecture was transformed into a simple, white, and human-centric design. Inside the architecture, the reorganized layout has made the spaces brighter and more comfortable.
The house was designed for four family members living together. The designer tried to balance being practical and thinking about what the family wanted from the start. At the same time, they wanted to maintain the house's simple, bright look. Beneath its simple and white exterior lies a vibrant and warm living space. Step inside, the modern rustic living room unveils a world distinctly different from the outdoors.
Unlike many designs that use neutral tones both inside and out, this villa project uses warm interior colors to contrast with the cool exterior tones. The extensive use of warm wood finishes and light-colored lacquer is paired with PLAIN HOMELAND's premium fabric and leather sofas, as well as a black marble coffee table. This combination creates a unified and cozy atmosphere in the living room.
While ensuring spatial privacy,the floor-to-ceiling windows introduce the interior with shifting natural light and views. As the sun sets and city lights begin to glow, the warm lighting within the home provides a spiritual anchor for every returning family member.
At the same time, the space also embodies the personalized design. Despite sharing the same white walls and wooden floors, the parent's room and children's room are interpreted differently. Serving as the room's visual center, the brown suede leather bed from PLAIN HOMELAND creates a calm and comfortable sleeping atmosphere for the elite parent, while the pink suede leather bed adds childlike fun and vitality to the children's room. The soft, skin-friendly, and breathable materials provide a very comfortable feel for families in southern regions, ensuring comfort without stickiness or stuffiness even during extended use.
The designer not only addressed the living needs of the family but also infused the hostess's elegance into every detail of the space. From the designer's perspective, minimalist design is an expression of elegance. The open kitchen, designed in a minimalist dark tone and paired with PLAIN HOMELAND’s white marble dining tables and chairs, add a touch of tranquility and understated elegance to the overall light-toned living space. As the seasons change, the hostess can enjoy flower arrangement on the dining table during leisure moments, cultivating her artistic spirit.
The true meaning of home lies not in luxury and fashion, but in its freedom to let you relax completely and heal both body and mind. Erya villa opens a new chapter of life for the elite family. And this is truly what an ideal life is all about.
